After getting rained out 2 weeks ago, we were back in action. The track decided to make up the last race by running s double feature of 30 laps then 40 laps.
We were ok practice as we were running on old sets of tires. We would however get a brand new set of tires to qualify on which was a major benefit and helped propel us to a QuickTime qualifying P1 with a time of 15.722.
30 Lap Feature:
We started 3rd in the feature, when the green flag dropped we immediately fell back to 4-5th place and needed to get some heat in our tires. Luckily, the caution came out on lap 2. On the restart we were able to regain & battle up to 3rd. By halfway were battling for 2nd and was able to take that position quickly. The leader was 10-12 car lengths ahead of us, however we backed off slightly to maintain our position and ourselves up for the 40 lap feature still to come and managed to finish in 2nd for the 2nd straight race.
40 Lap Feature:
Luck has not been on our side when it comes to redraws. We ended up pulling the 10 starting spot and has our work cut for us in the 40 lap feature. By lap 5 we were able to work our way to 8th and by lap 15 the caution came out and we would restart in 7th. On the restart we were able to battle and get by for 6th and set our sights on 5th place. We were fighting a loose condition coming off the corner and on lap 31 made contact with another competitor but was able to continue and not lose any positions. We were able to close in on 5th and with a couple laps to go got by him for 5th and ended up and bringing it home in 5th place.
